Friday 12 March 2010 - Trip to Amritsar via Pathankot and arrival in the Golden Temple
As it is with little sleep, I have put to me by 4 Alarm Clock totally ignored. When I woke up then, it was already at to 5 clock. How stupid. And I wanted to clock the bus at 5 in McLeod Ganj . Take Since I knew that the next bus heading towards Amritsar at 10.30 or 11.30 for the first clock in Dharamshala, I now had both time and turned me around again. This time, woke up in time, I went with packed things to McLeod Ganj to me there yet to buy a few little things. New fresh bread they still did not have, so I bought 5 loaves a Rs 5, the day the Japanese had previously. Those were small round bread that looked like well-baked pita bread and tasted very delicious. On the main square should be equal to a bus arrive and take a foreigner to this bus wanted was to buy bread for my time away. As I learned later, the bus had probably come a little earlier. So I took a taxi for the same price to Dharamshala, where I had to wait until it was really full. The trip must be for the driver count on. Having arrived in Dharamshala, I took all my things and noticed that I was missing the red bag with the good-smelling wood. I had the top of the store where I bought a pen for the diary leave. So I sat back in the next bus to McLeod Ganj, brought there quickly my bag to go directly to the same bus back down to drive to Dharamshala. So that the bus had gone to Amritsar at 10.30 clock now. Remained so even the bus clock at 11.30, which I then took the final too.
was on the bus a couple from England, with which I am at times a bit amused. The bus ride was not very exciting. I used to listen to me a little rest and music. When we arrived in Pathankot, I was let out on a main road because I was told that I have to change here in a bus to Amritsar had. So I took my backpack down from the roof of the bus and waited on the street. The couple from England had pre-booked a train to Amritsar, so they drove on to the train station. I asked every now and then to the holding bus to Amritsar, to me, "said one, that I should enter. No seat on the bus was free, so I put my backpack from near the driver and stood beside it. At one rest stop I went on short Toilet. We had a stay of about 3-5 minutes as I was told. So I thought it would be a little more time there, I needed not. On the toilet I just got rid of my long johns, because it was just too warm with it. Back out there I wanted to get on the bus and he was just gone. Since I first noticed that the buses looked somehow all the same, but a bus with my backpack in there I could not find. I was shocked and became impatient. Then came a person to me, I said would go into another bus that drives off immediately and later I would be able to grow at a different place in my old bus back. I got in and left me surprise, but still had a great impatience in me. As he had said, later my bus was at a stop a little longer and waiting for me. A man in the bus I said I had to hurry, so I ran to it and got an overjoyed at the sight of my backpack. The journey was then continued directly and I stayed on the bus to Amritsar, which I got hold of a seat. In Amritsar
probably not far removed from the bus arrived, I had my bearings first. Sure, some people came back to me and wanted me to carry everywhere, but I would not. So I walked first to the large bus station, I inquired about driving opportunities to Bikaner and how the "Golden Temple" reach. After a short break and a nice conversation with an Indian on the Kumbh Mela, I wondered if I would again should go to Haridwar. Finally, on 15 March 2010 where the next big festival is held, where probably will be about 6 million people. After the break I went with my luggage from the bus station but a relatively long time to the Golden Temple and was looking for the address of accommodation that should be it said in the temple. On the way back to me some people wanted to tighten some, such as head scarves, which would be needed for the temple well. I declined with thanks, as always. I was sent by one of the major entrances to the temple to another, and so I learned on the way there know Julia from USA. They already lived in the temple accommodation for foreigners, which was a large multi-bed rooms. They took me and showed me everything necessary. In the room I found in her room or a free bed, for the two other Americans from last night were, left today morning. So I reserved myself one of the beds, closed my backpack in one of the cupboards, and made me run around a little bit of Julia.
In the building where the dorm room, was still more room for other passengers were present. The toilets and showers back in the building were like everything else I compared to the rest of India have seen, very clean. Towards evening, the courtyard filled slowly and steadily. There were blankets and other bed underlay spread, so this courtyard was a great sleeping place for pilgrims. may enter the temple area is only barefoot. You had to like in a pool run by a water-filled well to reach the inner temple area. From there we had to cover his head and a fabric hat just is not enough, unfortunately. Who I'd like a headscarf could be taken from a bin with a headscarf on loan. Right of passage to the temple inside everything was about food. There was cooked, distributed food, rinsed, and much more. Once again I back to the bed was even more foreigners to come and so I learned a few South Koreans / inside, with whom I went to eat afterwards. To this end I would have also used a scarf, but that night it was probably one without. We went to dinner and had a meal tray to the next station, a spoon and a little later a shell that is meant for drinking water. After this there were in a queue that was not currently in place and then went inside in the dining hall. There were made to sit on hemp rugs or the like. This
are all, whatever their rank on the ground and thus the same height. Everyone is equal and none is preferred. If you wanted to get one or 2 chapatis, you had to hold hands together and thank you for the resulting bread. There were several Sitz-/Essreihen in this great hall. Almost all the seats were occupied, and it went around a few people who Chapati, water, or handed out other things. So after I had chapati and water, was still someone around with rice, dhal and other sauces, which were distributed to the food tray. If you still wanted to have more of something, then you had to say it and you got to. After we were done eating, I persuaded the South Koreans to go help out with something to me. You could voluntarily participate in many things, such as the tablet issue, sinks, Cutting or other things. We went to wash and an hour flew by. We then looked at us a bit and then parted. I went back later to eat something because it was free and tasted delicious. Also, I had like almost always hungry. Then I
made my way to find the train station to inquire about opportunities there for me and tickets. Furthermore, should there be a tourist office nearby, I wanted to see you. So I walked quite a long road to get to the station. I also asked in some shops for a new iPod charger after, but the prices for them were more expensive than last time, so I bought none. Just before the station I crossed a bridge and helped a bicycle-rickshaw driver pushing his rickshaw. He then wanted to charge me take you on the way down, but I was glad to run. Near the train station I found the tourist office, unfortunately, but a man in a hotel I could answer my questions so far. The tourist office had closed, according to his information already. Then I went to the train station and wanted me to ask for train times and ticket prices. But since it was already after 22 clock, the corresponding switch had already been closed. A great pity, so I come here again tomorrow to get my tickets to Haridwar and Bikaner. Without a clear success, I went back the very long road to the Golden Temple and arrived there on the bed, I started slowly ready for bed. On the way to the toilets and washrooms of the courtyard was full now complete except for a narrow path with a ceiling that already some people were sleeping and the rest talked. I was surprised how many people stayed here. Then I wrote a little diary and I went to sleep afterwards.
