Tuesday 9 March 2010 - Room search in McLeod Ganj and Dharamkot
Dharamkot came in the bus already between 3 und 4 clock in the morning. The first bus to McLeod Ganj, but should go first by 7 clock in the morning and cost Rs 10. A taxi at this early time would clearly have been more expensive than Rs 10. At the bus station still stood around two other foreigners with whom I came quickly to the call. It turned out that the two are German and come from Kiel and Berlin. We got along well and were glad when the little restaurant in the station by 4 clock in the morning opened its doors. So we drank us some chai tea and I ate me some bread, which consisted of something more solid puff. Because it was so cheap, I took a second for the 2 Chai tea. The two Germans wanted to look around a bit, so I was taking care of their things and in the meantime continued to write in my diary, what the Japanese did with his. When the Germans came back, they said that they do not want to wait for the last hour on the bus and had converted looks for a taxi. They wanted schonmal take a taxi to McLeod Ganj. I drove with it, even if the taxi was Rs 50 per person in contrast to the more expensive bus. So we came very early in McLeod Ganj and looked at us first. We went into the first hotel, which provides us with a Agent was offered and made in the subsequent search a stop in a French restaurant. The two Germans approved of breakfast with a great view while I was searching for the other hotels that I had picked out in the guide. When I came back without success, because I find all the hotels were too expensive as an individual, I decided to find even a hotel on the way to Bhagsu. Before I showed the two Germans still a hotel, which I found very fitting for the two. They had there a double room for Rs 300 with a great view over the valley, which they ultimately took.
I said goodbye and continued on my way towards Bhagsu, and I went out from McLeod Ganj and not the hotel you are found. I followed at a branch of a very steep road to the top left, a large playground and at the entry and exit of the school I spoke with a man who recommended me a very simple accommodation in the neighboring village of Dharamkot. So I went on the road and hit the road to Sebastian from Monheim, who lives in a hotel above Dharamkot, because it is very quiet there and he has a beautiful view. The price of Rs 250 was not exactly cheap, but it is appropriate and with the appropriate views and tranquility. We talked for a while on the way up before I turned to Dharamkot. In Dharamkot I found the ultimate accommodation, but the Owner was not there. I waited at least 30 minutes and nobody came. Another woman approached me and I looked at their accommodation, which was not bad. In the next room was probably a couple that felt very comfortable here and do not use in the kitchen could make a fire, when they gathered some wood. I looked over to other accommodation and could get a cleaner option for Rs 150. But finally I decided for the first property with the kitchen, which I negotiated down to Rs 350 for three nights, get a cleaner room on the ground already for Rs 150 per night.
Then I moved into the room and slept a little wet once a round. From this round, the half day, so I woke up until late afternoon. It seems that I had probably been tired accordingly. When I got up, was the neighbor couple that comes from the Czech Republic, with a small tuft of wood in the luggage back from the trip. We talked a little and then I went off with my small backpack to McLeod Ganj. The way was to run, a little bit. In McLeod Ganj, I looked around a bit, bought bread in the evening and took the two Germans over for dinner. We looked around for some restaurants and afterwards went to the outskirts of McLeod Ganj direction Bhagsu lying small restaurant, which to me this morning on the way Dharamkot was noticed. The two ordered the Thali with meat, liked the meat but not really because it was not detached from the bone. Instead, I was very pleased with my vegetarian thali, which was also too expensive. Then I brought them even to their hotel and went back to my accommodation, after all, it was quite late. The two Germans had been in contrast to me directly to the hotel to find the way and seen some of the city, while I slept almost all day. But the hotel had it even earlier than me. In the same way as this morning I still forked to an older English woman who was happy, not the dark path alone go home to have. It lacked just a flashlight. On the way I collected a little wood for a little fire and arrived at the room I was talking with the Czechs. We made a small, cozy fire and decided against 22 clock go slowly into the bed to get ready for the next morning.
