Sunday 14 March 2010 - Day 2 Amritsar, the Pakistani border

is too late in his bed but great to have some gets done, but then get up early, is to turn into conflict. Well, the night before had Julia and I have discussed, we look to the sunrise and the opening ceremony with the transport of the holy book in the Golden Temple. This of course necessarily requires an early start, which resulted in my case, with little sleep. At 5 clock we were already in the temple and it was still slightly fresh, if you compare that the the normal daytime high temperatures. I enjoyed the sunrise in Julia's society. We took some photos of the temple with the sun and from sitting next to us a child with his father.

should go

as it then with the transport of the book, was there again a large crowd gathered. Once a man came with a jacket to us and wanted something from us what we just did not understand. Therefore, we politely declined. Shortly thereafter, another man who, as we understood only after some time, wanted to protect us and assumed that the man with the coat quickly once had something to steal and was subordinate to him that he wanted to steal something. Man two was in fact a policeman and said, no English, so that other people help us with the translation was. We appeased the suspect when the man with the jacket had not done something, had not indicated any apparent intentions. After the book was back in place in the Golden Temple, already many people were crowding toward the temple. So I decided to look me later the Temple, because I simply was too full right now. This should not change later. All the time, while how fell, we were always in the water before bathing men. For women there was also a kind of container in the water, could use the women for their holy bath.
Julia and I went then to the canteen, which was soon to be opened. Before the doors were still closed, already a lot of people and some volunteers already schibbelten around with garlic and other things. Not wanting to stand around idly, I sat down to Knoblauchschälern to and helped. It was tedious work, because the garlic was very small. When the doors finally opened, I moved with Julia and the dining-room, where we had to take this time to the top. The lower was already full. That there is still another existed until I was at that time were not aware. So I got the chance to make use of the upper floor to have some nice photos of the indoor environment and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast with what I have favorite coconut milk rice. After dinner I went again a small round every now and then packed my stuff for today's departure. Julia had with Henry, whom we had met yesterday evening decided to go this afternoon to the border to Pakistan, where every evening a border ceremony is held. I really wanted to see this and if they find a group here for a ride, it makes sense to share the taxi. Anyway, it's the simplest and most effective way of also added there.
went after breakfast, I pack a second time because I was still hungry and then I shared about 1.5 hours from trays to the arriving guests. We saw some faces surprise, many did I just not Tablet, have sent me to the distributive person to me and the people that guests simply gave no trays. It must probably be on Sunday that the number of visitors is so great today compared with yesterday. I shared some tablets also to foreigners, where a Frenchman whom I again saw the handing out the debate on his breakfast tray also.
counter just before 12 I decided to clock the output tray to stop because I had arranged to visit the temple.

So I went with a girl in the long snake temple in the jostle awful lot, was pushed and pushed. Some people just came out again because it was too stuffy and oppressive. The sun was at noon, of course, the highest and burned correctly. Just before the gate one was finally forced into a cordoned-off series, through which you got a lead, but the scramble of course could not escape. From the outside in. Water was passed into the crowd and I approved some water, which did really well. The path to the temple itself was still a long way away.

After 1.5 hours I was finally in the temple in which no pictures were allowed to be made, which I am also, for once held. The temple was decorated beautifully, it was played very beautiful music and I found many people praying. It was also read from the Holy Book. After a first impression of the lowest floor, I went to the next level, which also adorned was very beautiful. Of these, one could go into the outside area, but had to be careful not to the white by the sun-drenched marble to run, there was incredibly hot. From this floor, I had a beautiful view of the surrounding temple grounds and took pictures, as this did not relate to the Golden Temple itself.

In the temple would have I like to sit down for a while because it was so beautiful there, but the time it was unfortunately not because the wait was in the beating lasted an hour and a half. So I went back alone, assuming that my companion for a long time out there. We lost in the debris of the crowd. From the temple I went straight to lunch and a short time went to the meeting by 15 clock and in a flash.

I was like everyone else at the time by 15 clock venue, but was of course the departure 15.30 clock. According to the taxi manager, we would still arrive on time and we did. In the taxi were sitting next to me, Julia, Henry from England, a girl from the U.S. and a girl from Canada who is currently working in Switzerland. I sat forward on the driver, so it suited me and was slightly excluded from the group, since I was sitting outside the group. Front I was after all the most space. Once at the border station, we sat in a cafe shortly before it finally gave final instructions by our guide as we come to the venue. We were closed off in the group until the leader and I were separated by soldiers on horses from the rest of the group. At this point, passed the leader and told me that I just straight in front of the entrance on the left must take the VIP entrance. The group was of course great, because they had not waited for me, but just gone before.
was at the VIP entrance, I walk past a guard post just like that, but this did not happen to me. I had to show my passport, which was of course included in the room in the closet. So I was not pure. The main entrance and side entrance for Indians were already full and closed. There I was again referred to the VIP entrance. When after repeated run back and forth and not ask around progressed and only saw that I look at the ceremony, for which I was extra come not, could not look, jammed up in me in a rage and I crashing my brought water bottle on the floor which then disappeared somewhere in the crowd. I felt so ripped to be sent repeatedly from one place to another. So I went back to the entrance where I was told that I could go there not long, but what I did anyway because I just did not care about anything. Then it was on me and asked about my problem. I tried to portray the officer the problem, a female soldier ranholte with very good English because his was not good enough. This understood everything and explained it to the higher-ranking officer who took me by the hand and then with me in tow to the VIP entrance was. After a short conversation with the screener I got all of a sudden it clean. I walked along the road came to a personal inspection station, which my Swiss army knife and found it took until the end of the ceremony for the custody itself. I took down the name of the soldier to find him afterwards can. Then I went
grandstand and looked for a seat, since I do not my group was in the crowd. On the road to Pakistan, some women danced to the music and it was a race with the Indian flag made up and down the street. Then the road was cleared, a man commented on the ceremony and fired at the crowd again and again. The soldiers lined up and a higher ranking soldier shouted something into the microphone and it proved a really long haul, just incredible. The entire ceremony can be elusive in words Therefore, I have as much of it on video.

marched Anyway, a few soldiers with a very fast step, the road up and down.

Something similar took place probably on the other side in Pakistan, where at times echoed by cheers and applause across. Then the gates of Pakistan and India have been opened, we were on the border hand briefly, followed by the respective flag hauled down, the door closed again and the flag safely in the house.

This ended the ceremony.

After that I found the group, went with her to the gate input is sought, then the soldier with my knife and went comfortably to the group back to the taxi. There we bought for Rs 10 or a tasty bite to eat and drove back to the Golden Temple. On the way we passed a beautiful lighted building where we had to pause for a photo, but since I was the only one who wanted to, I gave up the stop. Back in Amritsar, we paid the driver, we have some tasty stuff bought from the small mobile snack vendors and went back to the property. I went back quickly grabbed a round of dinner, my things, said goodbye to all that I had met and marched with the baggage to the train station. The coaches of the Golden Temple drove to the train station any more, because it it was too late. On the way I looked around for a ride, but found none. So I ran as fast as I could to the train station, I once again just turn came. Just before the station, I had covered more than half the distance to the train station, I took a bicycle rickshaw that would take me for Rs 20 to Zugbahnhofsrückseite, but I negotiated down to Rs 10. I knew by now both ways to the train station and knew that it was not far off. The rickshaw took the wasted time back in and at the railway station, the driver demanded Rs 20 as agreed, but I wanted to pay only Rs 10. After some arguing he would have no more money, but I insisted on giving him settled as Rs 10. Another driver with better English intervened and assured me that the trip would cost the Golden temple to the train station Rs 20, after which I said I was not even gone half the distance. I left behind Rs 10 and quickly ran to a switch on the other hand, to discuss the status of my ticket. With the confirmation of the promise and track information, I went me to the platform because the train had just arrived. There I was looking for my appropriate place to sleep, quartered me in there and put me to sleep very soon. Terminus of the train at Haridwar, where we should arrive between 7 und 8 clock.
