Tuesday 16. March 2010 - New Delhi Day 1, the German Embassy in India
The night bus was totally uncomfortable and far from great. I could sleep on the bus tires a little bit or am I dozed off again and at each stop we made, of course I was awake. The Indians wanted to trade on a stop with me the place, so that I could possibly sit more comfortably on the bench, but I did not because I had the more legroom, which was also very limited. It is not easy when one is large and accommodate the long limbs in a small space needs. Between 5 and 6 clock we arrived in New Delhi and at 6 clock we were already at the bus station or in front of it. The way to the bus station was completely full of buses, so we were let out on the main road. The helpful Indians from New Delhi told me yet, how do I get with what bus to Nehru Place, before he said goodbye to me. So I went over the bridge to the other side of the road and took up directly to the holding buses that went well in the desired direction. The bus drove
of course not let go immediately, but waited drove a bit and waited again, etc. until it after some Time finally drove off. I wanted to Nehru Place as quickly as possible to solve the problem with my passport as soon as possible. On the bus ride I saw something from New Delhi, but with the thought I was somewhere else. After some time I was let out at a bus stop where I had to change to another bus. I asked for half an hour there forever guarantees incoming buses to "Nehru Place" and was put off again on another bus, until at last one came who could take me in the vicinity.
near the Nehru Place, I asked myself through to the International Trade Tower and arrived there after about 15 minutes walk. There I was not like all the other large controlled, as I said I was German and had an urgent message to. After I was up, I learned that it was only an agent for visa requests and not, as adopted by the German Embassy. What a bummer. The people were friendly and gave me the correct address. So I had from there so at Shanti Path Chanakyapuri go in the quarter, which was of course back to a different corner of New Delhi. From there I took a bus to the near Chanakyapuri and the Indians in the bus were very nice and helpful. They told me exactly where I had to get out and which bus I should take then to come to the Shanti Path. Before the huge crossroad Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Aurobindo Marg corner - I had the feeling that the bus was on a ring road on the road - I jumped out, in order to turn under the bridge right. The bus drove while over the bridge. There I had to take a bus to the Shanti Path and as this did not come immediately and I did not wait long, I ran the whole piece up to the German Embassy. For this I was again 30-60 minutes on the road.
At the Embassy I had to sit right at the main entrance of my backpack so that I could ever come forward to the message switch. So I gave my rucksack, which was then light off. The fluoroscopy was not really easy, since a large area of the backpack is not reasonable represented, was so that I could then remove the whole backpack. This I found in one of the rear backpack pockets an envelope with 6000 Rs, which I then was, what I realized at that moment only had the money to take off in Shimla purely done well there. Cool, I was still at least Rs 6000 plus the gift of money from the Indians. The good news has attended. When that was done, I went with my things to the switch 1, which is extra, as I later learned, responsible for German citizens. There I waited a while before I was finally asked to clean behind the glass in and found a very good German-speaking Indian. Which I explained my problem and she tried to help me. First, they could supposedly do anything if she did not know who I was. They needed a passport copy, a copy of identity card or the like of me, which would identify me. Of course, I had nothing like that here. But I knew that I had a copy at home in Germany on my PC. With the information as passport number, visa number and date / place so she was not satisfied. The information I could call her that is all because I had this need and over again and I can remember numbers very well. So I asked how I was coming to a computer with Skype to call home and let me send the relevant documentation. This could not be me . Say So I said I would come back later with the supporting documentation. The Indian woman said only that it may be that the temporary passport would today may no longer be issued because a person responsible for the afternoon was probably very busy.
I left the embassy and went in search of a computer with Skype and ran to the near Akbar Bhavan, where supposedly would be present in a small shopping arcade internet shops. Since I did not find this place right away, I asked an Indian man in the car, then I put down there. In two Internet stores lacked a headset so I could not use Skype to make phone calls. In a computer store I could have had at one, but I did not for just a phone call to Germany. So I inquired further and they referred me to another bazaar / market, and I took advantage of an auto-rickshaw, I was under time pressure. The rickshaw driver took me quite quickly to the desired location, but I felt a little ripped before, because the road was not very far and I paid quite a lot for the short distance. Well, there I found only an online shop, of course, how could it be otherwise, had no headset. When I was upset and then something bad about a world city like New Delhi said that several Indians were angry. I just wanted to express that it can not be that such a large capital not only Internet store with one headset, has during other small cities in India in almost every online shop headsets. It was understood, however, wrong. I was mad with rage and ran around on, but did not know where to go, since I did not even know exactly where I was in New Delhi at all. I asked through continued and was sent there again somewhere else. Fortunately, I helped an Indian, his friend would take me with his 125cc motorcycle to his well-known Internet shop, which certainly would have a headset.
So I was from a very young Indians taken back to his motorcycle. Sometimes we drove 100 km and I had neither clothing nor the minimum equipment of a helmet on. In Germany, I would at least not drive around. After a very exciting trip but we arrived at an Internet shop that had a non-functioning headset, which also could not be made to work. However, the internet rate was very cheap here. Two times my computer went from simple and yet I managed to send a text message on YouTube to my brother and my mother. My mother has phoned home to inform my today stayed at home father, to stand up my brother Oliver and me to help. I also had Michael achieved in ICQ, which also rang out from the university in my own home, and so informed my brother. Then I could tell my brother via ICQ exactly what I needed and then I printed out my passport copy in the shop. The copy I ran back up the whole piece to the embassy, where I order that was already closed for visitors, was still left inside. At the counter, I presented my passport copy and wanted to apply for a temporary passport. Then asked the Indian, where is my passport photos his. I asked what she meant exactly, because of passport photos she had not said anything to me before. Yes I would need 2 passport photos to apply for a temporary passport and this must definitely be biometrically. So I went
with the information on a suitable camera store biometric Make picture, and I ran along on this business another 20 minutes. There I paid Rs 100 for 6 images, and was an hour and 15 minutes later at the embassy. Now it was already 15 to clock and, after a second demand, the Indian woman my provisional passport issued today definitely not, even though it supposedly only needed 30 minutes for the exhibition. I wanted rumreisen yet, but could not leave without a passport from India. According to the Indian woman allegedly for nights I need a passport. My passport, I had really been for the nights show only once. The other times had always served, when I submitted my passport and visa information in a book had. I was not with the existing solution to my problem dissatisfied and decided to create my temporary passport to leave later in Mumbai, which would supposedly go. So I could at least perform with minimal time spent in New Delhi, where I wanted to be at all, nor the rest of my itinerary. She asked if I could not come back tomorrow morning, then the process would be completed within a short time. I let my hand over my documents and left. I wanted to later apply for the passport on time in Mumbai before departure.
When I bent and exhausted from running around and beat up many picked up by the few sleep my backpack, sat I am facing the Botschaftstors down and cried. I simply could not go, did not continue and was a nervous wreck at the end. From exhaustion I nodded briefly at the embassy and woke up again directly. None of the embassy employees, who left the message surprised that someone was sitting in front of the embassy with a large backpack. Only one woman came to me and gave me a pretzel, because they had experienced in the message from my good fate, but it helped me even further. Another woman sat down next to me and asked me eventually, if everything is fine with me and asked me to help. She said that the further I came from New Delhi away, the more difficult it would be comfortable with the passport application . Take I had better clarify everything here in New Delhi on the ground and will travel afterwards. A hotel that they wanted to recommend cost me, 5000 Rs per night, which is definitely not in my budget. Later I got hired at the gate of the Indians filled my water and you were the head of security, a German, reported me. He told me that I could sleep on the benches in front of the embassy. He told the security people that you want in the night time and again cast a blind eye on me. It cost nothing and so I decided to do it.
I was again off my backpack, ran into a little further away from the bazaar Africa Ave, where I lost a toothbrush and some toothpaste bought. In search of an affordable restaurant I ate at the end of the bazaar in a booth eating two servings of pasta. I just had huge hunger and ultimately that was the first meal for today. Then I went back to the embassy and was comfortable after a short conversation with an Indian, I asked for directions, simply taken on a motorcycle. This was from me that I get him a job. I said I could give him money, but a job I could not give it, but he just wanted to have a paid job. I had to give me his contact and said goodbye. After I picked up my backpack at the embassy, I went to the front of the Embassy stationary benches and made myself as best I could relax on the bench. The mosquitoes caught after a short period of nerves, even though I had put the bed cover over me. It was difficult both to keep the backpack on the bench than to stay at the same time wrapped in the duvet cover. The many mosquitoes were simply told. Before the message is a huge green lawn, which is watered every day very well, so that they remain so beautiful green. It appears that the chances of survival for the mosquitoes here at close to 100%.
