Wednesday, 17 March 2010 - New Delhi Day 2, replacement passport procurement
I was awake quite early, had thrown the night 1-2 times my backpack off the bench and this half-asleep rescinded. I also tried my hand under my duvet cover before the pesky mosquitoes hide what I was successful but not always. I was the first front of the embassy and saw how some people came by and by, to later go to the embassy. It went quite a while, until I wegbrachte my backpack. This was today re-scanned. This time not as thorough as yesterday when I was still the day before and I always knew had nothing dangerous in the backpack. Then I waited a little on a bench in front of the embassy and talked to an Indian. Just when I wanted to go to the embassy, I helped an Indian nor a request for the embassy to fill. He works in Germany and his wife, he would like to take to Germany. When filling out the application, he was very insecure. Then I went to the embassy and despite other people waiting there, I was asked directly inside first. The Indian woman of yesterday asked me amazed at what I would do because even here in New Delhi. So I explained the circumstances and started the application process again. After a short while, they came back and said, that she would have written an e-mail with high priority to Germany to make in order to verify the basis of my passport copy if I really I would. In half an hour should be expected to arrive a response from Germany. So I went outside and sat down comfortably on the grass on my jacket. After a while I lay down and dozed or slept in front of me. When I felt more rested, it was already 11.30 clock and I thought that would surely be now reached the expected response from Germany. So I went back to the embassy.
As with any commitment is first to be confirmed in the Embassy, whether one can ever be admitted. Then will be controlled and goes to the front desk. There they will ask for basic dme Release and then phoned the embassy. After the confirmation will be admitted and assigned to a switch point or just dismissed. Since I was already familiar with, the process went with me much faster. Again at the counter I was told that there is still no answer is received, which after a short pause was not surprising, because when clock is 11.30 in India, is expected back in Germany, 3.5 hours only 8 clock in the morning then work begins. So I had more time and went back to the vicinity of yesterday visited Photo business to me to eat there on a very small bazaar something. On the Way there I found a hostel, where I once asked me directly for prices per night. These were not cheap to Rs 250, but better than nothing. After a short small meal I went back comfortably to the embassy, while my now 13 indicating Clock clock. This was the main operating time around and it should be in the message of peace has returned again. In the message I spoke again with the Indian woman and they assured me that they had to call twice in Germany finally received a confirmation. This sounded more like an additional service as a matter of course. Well I do not pay for this service still had to. Now it was the application process go on at length and after about 1 hour waiting period and 3 passport photos, I finally had my temporary passport. Why do I need 3 passport pictures at once and it took 1 hour instead of the previously specified 30 minutes, you could not tell me. In any case, the temporary passport with 1,280 Rs (20 €) is quite expensive, especially when there were only Rs 6,000 for the remaining two weeks left. Then I learned to demand what I have done regarding my visa. She told me that I to the "Foreigners' Regional Registration Office" must in order to register my exit visa in the temporary passport, which now of course only up to 16 Clock had opened. This was about 2.5 km from the Embassy and I had only 30 minutes in order to appear on time.
I was angry and complained to me why they had not already given me yesterday, the full information but the information is always piecemeal hinschmeißt me and I always have to run in place for every little thing with all the documents to come only once. Then I got no answer. I was also annoyed that I'm back a whole day was wasted in waiting, just because you do not clock up 14 hours when I had already submitted the passport copy, made a direct inquiry in Germany had, if I do I am. I was informed of developments at the German Embassy very disappointed. I had the head of security yesterday, not even telling the addendum visa and if I had not the woman at the counter mentioned it, who knows, if I had ever experienced it. Had I been at the counter told yesterday by the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office and the visa addendum, I would have yesterday to start the passport process.
Since I no longer had much time, I grabbed my papers and ran from the embassy to the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office. The way there was quite far and I then knew not the way, I took me half the way after several negotiating an auto-rickshaw, which in hindsight also was too expensive again. But since I could now do nothing. In the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office, it was full of Indians and some foreigners. I learned that I need several copies of my records so I ran back out to a copy shop that was around the corner. Here I copied out for Rs 1 per page to my temporary passport and police certificate of "loss" of my things. Then I went back again, and asked me to put on my visa entry switch 5. I was able to provide all relevant information had, but unfortunately, not a copy of my visa there. After the woman had filled out some forms and labels, and had stapled my copies, I had to go to another switch. While there I had to wait again, I was talking with a German tour guide, who recommended me because of my predicament to rebook the flight back immediately and as soon as possible to fly back to draw a line. This got me thinking, but somehow I did not want to spend even more money and thus cancel the holiday early. At the counter they asked me back a copy of the visa and told me then that I should come back tomorrow at 16 clock, then the data would be reviewed. I did not understand the world anymore. I just wanted to take my temporary passport with the visa entry and disappear from New Delhi, which I definitely was denied. Also, the call on a seemingly more important person did nothing and so I left without the passport office.
was now 18 and I ran the clock by 3-4 km long slice of the Office to the hostel in order to reserve a bed for the night. Fortunately, they had a bed free and I paid next to the bed, directly or a youth hostel membership for a year because the price in Germany is 3-4 times as expensive. After I stated my old visa number and submitted my police certificate, so you understand why I did not have a passport right now, I also got my bed assigned. When I went out from the hostel I met 2 German girls with whom I was talking. These were a little shocked at my misfortune, and gave to themselves that they dealt very lightly with their own travel backpacks. When they of Indians they had met in New Delhi, were picked up, I went back to the embassy to get my big backpack. It was already dark. Employed at the embassy asked the Indians, whether everything is fine with me and they offered me, because I had not eaten anything that you could get me a thali. I politely declined and was impressed and surprised at how helpful can be the Indians, when one is in need, as opposed to the German Embassy and the German-speaking employees.
As I said, I now wanted to run the hostel and a friend the night shift had arrived by motorcycle, I was offered a ride on a motorbike to the hostel. I accepted gratefully, and was glad that I no longer with the rather heavy backpack had to walk across en route. Greeted my driver at the hostel and the night watch, which he seemed to know well. In the hostel I was referring directly to my room and treated myself down in the dining room for a glass of hot water with salt, because I had diarrhea, which probably came from little sleep and many existing stress. I was told that black tea would help there, but the moment passed me my hot water. Before I went to bed, I sat down after a cozy, long, hot shower on the terrace on a swing and relaxed. On the opposite swing slept a man who fit right on the bank, which for me was obviously too small. Then I went to bed and was happy to finally be in a bed.
