Tuesday 23 March 2010 - Wedding ceremony of a low caste in Pushkar, Jodhpur
That night I had slept well and that day is a wedding in this rural area. In the morning I had not much to do and so I drove myself after breakfast time so that the family collect even more wood and water to fetch. Fetching water helped me a boy next door, which I did not like so much because I had the feeling that he ridiculed me. But this could simply be a feeling, because the communication did not work with us only through gestures, as I neither Hindi nor English could. Annie I had frequently talked about the living conditions of my host family and they said that water would be an important thing for the people already. So I took the field in the morning one more time water. Finally, I had to wedding at noon time. Balu, who had already washed the horse groomed yesterday, the horse today and prepared for it before the wedding. He had the dried Henna settled, which left a red color on the feet of the horse. Then adorned / decorated Balu the horse so that it looks pretty impressive for the wedding. Rahgu had returned the night very late, which I had heard nothing. He told me only later. He also got very annoyed about Balu, because once again the fuel tank was empty. He had bought the neighbors a little gasoline, because he had no desire to push the scooter to the gas station, which was the house of a whole piece away. Then he had gone to fill up with petrol the moped and few had done in the train direct some importance. Then he picked up about 11 clock Annie, making the morning rumging quickly.
In Khajuraho, I had reported from the many cow pats at the small lake, where they were dried. Why that would be used later, I knew at the time yet, but here in Pushkar I saw daylight. For the family it was like this, that the camel cakes are collected and formed into small lumps, which, if they are dried again, then be used to make fire, such as coal or the like. These "substitute coal was saved when I brought the number of collected wood, because you never know. On the farm, there was next to the camel and the horse a little leashed dog that was still very young and Addicted to Acting. This morning he was very funny Lute remarked, the Rahgu disturbed sleep. He actually wanted to play with me and be freed from the leash. Rahgu has beaten the dog and then turned away, so this rest is. Rahgu said later that it was the first time he has done that. The dog will come back later and it did. Then there was the yard still a Kuhmutter with her calf. When that was pregnant, she gave off enough milk, but now that she is no longer, they are no more milk. Here in India, cows are sacred and are treated accordingly. You drive on roads around them, scares them away even if they stand in the way of doing them but nothing. If the cows have no children, you also get any milk from them. It's not like in other countries that they are used for milk production "forced". The Israeli Nessy finds a good thing, because she stands up for animals and for good reasons, a vegetarian.
Rahgu told me later that he and his brothers say though Hindi and English but not read or write. Bothers him that and he considers it important to be able to read and write, so he sends his daughter to school consistently. You should have a decent education, to later get a good job. As Annie, now that was decorated beautifully and the horse looked at me I pulled the gift of Vivek Indian matters, and made me so ready for the wedding. To 13 clock Balu got the info that he must go now, so Annie and I ran a few minutes later, the wedding event. Along the way I looked at the remains of a roadside Kuhkadavers that simply because lying around. Before the court, where there were the groom, was much commotion. The horses were put to the side under a ledge in the shade, because everything is delayed by about an hour. The horse from a neighbor was in contrast to Balus horse very nervous. To Annie and me gathered around, many children and onlookers, as strangers are always something special in such an event seem. Bothered me that a little change, but I could not do it. When it finally was, the horses had to be led into the courtyard. So I went to the yard, where I discovered, of course, directly. After the groom were both saddled, was the wedding march to the "House of Women" go.
This was a small but very loud band with their music and sound trucks in advance and behind the family members followed by dancing.
Annie had a bit withdrawn, to take pictures and leave the hustle and bustle of the road. For the wedding of two horses were needed because two young men while married. In poorer family relations than those belonging to the Brahmin caste, it is more common that more than one person at a time married to the high priest costs can be shared. The train went his way and I was discovered as outsiders under a shady tree, photos and videos made by the spectacle. Then I spoke to the cousin of one of the groom and wanted me to come to the narrow circle of dancers.
I could hardly say "no" and I found myself unceremoniously back into the dancing crowd. There was a lot of dancing and we were slow step closer to the festival site, where the brides on their future husbands waited. Before the archway could be passed through, yet there was a ceremonial reception, which differed from the reception at Vivek's Wedding strong. This probably depends on local customs and varies with it.
Then, when some loud blast near the horses were frightened ignited, the horse of Balus neighbors, bucked and threw it from the groom, who, fortunately, more frightened than hurt. Then the horses were led away and the wedding ceremony went on. I was initially Balu with his horse, but remained as such with the neighbors and the horses returned home, still on the wedding party because you had asked me to. Supposedly it was an honor for such a wedding if foreigners to attend the ceremony.
So I looked at me the whole event, ate with the cousin of the groom and one was talking much with him and his friends / relatives.
priest at the wedding of two couples:
said among other things to me like a boy who distributed the food and drink and invited me to be around the corner. So I went, as he had break with him, although I was not sure exactly what he wanted. Around the corner were small tents and houses and a few people took a rest in the shade there that talked with me immediately. After a short time the boy wanted to go with me into the house and rest there. We drank some water and he offered me a bed. However, I was cautious and sat down only, although I was very tired and had problems to keep me awake. Finally, I did not know the family. After I had rested a little, I said goodbye and went back to the wedding, where the cousin was waiting for me.
's cousin and I:
He knew the person with whom I was called, and did not therefore, to what was before them, if necessary with me. He had simply been worried about me.
on the festival site looked for me a neighbor boy of Balu and took me to Annie, the was close to the wedding at a friend's place. After a short stop at Annie, I learned that I Rahgu will pick it up here and take home. So I went back to the wedding because I was invited there for dinner with the groom and would not seem rude. I ate with the entire family of both groom, both of which looked more tense for me.
After the groom had gone to attend the closing ceremony, I had the guys still waiting for the parting gift, what's cousin wanted to do.
He said, namely, that I without a parting gift should not walk away from the wedding. So I waited and after 15 minutes because it probably still was not ready, he gave me Rs 10, he gave me an autograph and also indicating that it was a farewell gift from the couple. After that I went to the place where I had last met Annie and waited there briefly Rahgu. This showed me another place-find around team game on a free space.
will play exactly two teams holding the ever-changing in the active and the passive role. One of the team that has a passive from the team on the foot pedal and if that is successful, as quickly as possible flee back to his team in their own field. The others have stepped on the foot "after the catch the person before they reached their own safe play half. not succeed, you get the "footpedal" otherwise the other team a point. Thereafter, the task moves to the other team, ie exchange of active and passive part of the page.
After we had looked at the game briefly, I went back with Rahgu to the house where I could end the day comfortably. Of course I did not, and drew a water from the well, which in contrast to today did not work tomorrow. Since I knew even from another fountain, but something further away, I was still with the two large 15-liter buckets and then made the bucket as full as I could. One of the buckets had unfortunately not handle, so I got this pack only on the narrow edge and had to keep an angle. The way to this water-filled buckets was long and difficult, so I made regular breaks. The neighbor of Rahgu already knew me by sight and his wife offered me a chai tea, which I declined with thanks, because I wanted to bring the bucket as quickly as possible Rahgus house. Once there, Rahgu was not there, but came back after 5 minutes. He was looking for me and taken care of me because he did not know where I was. He said it could have been able to pass something by anyone throw stones at me or else does with me. Then he would have got a big problem, because he does not I can register as a hotel, so they may not receive, because it is not protected against accidents. I apologized.
After I had to get something to eat, I sorted out my black down jacket. Annie had told me that Balu Rahgu use or they can certainly, as in Pushkar, in the winter can be cold. Balu fit my black down jacket. He was happy and I was glad to have them delivered in good hands, just to throw away instead of her. Then I gave Rahgu Rs 200 for the night, which was not much, but at least I thought me that he could complete it at least make his new water tank. I had to see how I go with my money now. Then I went to 18 Rahgu clock with his camel on a camel followers to Pushkar. Rahgu was interested in my broken sandals that I wanted to throw it away because I had not managed to repair. He was happy and I gave him money so he could pay for the repairs. On top I put another 50 Rs, because the family could use any money. He told me how he met Annie, and Annie had the time he bought the camel. Annie also has him and his family probably bought the house. It must be nice if you have money and other can help you. Unfortunately, I can thus make some of my little money yet, but when I later did a decent job, then there is more of a possibility.
After I had taken good Rahgu to Pushkar stayed with me until the departure of the bus to Jodhpur much time. So I strolled in with my big backpack comfortable to Pushkar and sat down at the central small square on one of the free seats in the cafes. There I bought along with two chai tea and a sandwich for the ride. Throughout the time when I was there I talked with people just to be heard or any conversations. So I learned, among other things, a Russian card game to know that I had three times in a row played. Then I had to go to the bus station to a bus on time on this not to be missed. At the bus station I met a few other foreigners who were on the way to Jaisalmer. Because the bus had been delayed, they were taken away by other people with a place on the car. I waited about 2 hours on the bus, so it was after midnight when he arrived at last. Then I bought a ticket to Jodhpur, I took the only empty seat back of the bus and tried to sleep a little. When at last a side room was free, I changed the seat and fell asleep.
